I made these Winnie pyjamas ages ago.  They were my pre summer holiday panic sew.  The kids and I were going to the south of France to stay with friends and the only pyjamas I had were long legged and long sleeved. I was definitely going to be too hot in them, and so I needed a pair that were going to be lovely and cool.

I love Merchant and Mills patterns, they are always so well cut, the lines are simple and timeless, and the garments always come together well.  Obviously, I went for the short sleeve and short leg version of these, although there are options for longs.  The fabric I chose was the Yarn Dyed Cotton Stripe: Red, a fab crisp 100% cotton which we stock in several colours. It is perfect for pyjamas. It is a good width (144cm / 56 inches) and is really easy to sew with.

The shirt has a sweet rounded collar, and rounded hem, and the shorts have a cute pleat at the front adding shape and style.  I used some classic and simple fish eye buttons and for fun I used a contrasting turquoise thread for the buttonholes and to sew the buttons on.

Actually, full disclosure, I sewed the buttons on whilst I was on holiday… nothing like leaving things to the very last minute!
