Start Dressmaking

1 x 3hr Session

Class Length: 1 session of 3 hours
Number in Class: 6
Entry Level: You will need to have completed one of our ‘Sewing Machine Basics’ courses or have similar experience with a machine.  This means you must be able to thread the machine on your own, wind a bobbin, and go forwards and backwards with straight stitch.
Materials: All materials included however, you may wish to bring a note book and pen as we cover a fair bit of theory before the practical element.
Tutor: Terry Baker

Are you keen to start dressmaking but lack the confidence to get going on your own?  This three hour introductory class is perfect for you.

We will cover:
How to measure the body; Understanding fit; Reading a commercial pattern; What fabrics to use; Laying out a pattern; Pinning and cutting.

Plus, all students will complete the following practicals:
Insert a dress zip; Insert a dart; Create a facing; Add a buttonhole.

Students are welcome to either bring their own machines (bring your manual and a zip foot too!) or use the Backstitch machines for free.

Please be aware that we need two students enrolled on the class otherwise it is subject to cancellation.  By purchasing this class you are agreeing to our class policy.
