Quilt Basics: Finish Your Quilt: Baste, Quilt & Bind

1 x 3hr Session

£35.00

Class Length: 3 hours
Number in Class: 6
Entry Level: You will need to have completed one of our ‘Sewing Machine Basics’ courses or have similar experience with a machine.  This means you must be able to thread the machine on your own, wind a bobbin, and go forwards and backwards with straight stitch.
Materials: Students need to bring two pieces of cotton fabric sized at least 10x10 inches for the front and back of your table mat (two fat quarters works well).  Wadding and binding fabric will be provided by Backstitch and is included in the price.
Tutor: Jemma Dell

With this great intro to finishing your quilt you will learn the principles of creating your quilt sandwich, quilting using a walking foot and (non-bias) binding. You will leave the class with an insulated table mat or 'oven glove' (an American-style pot holder rather than a true glove) and the knowledge to scale up and finish your own quilt.

This class is great for those students who have created a quilt top and want to learn how to finish.

Students are welcome to either bring their own machines (bring your manual too!) or use the Backstitch machines for free. We will be teaching using a walking foot which the Backstitch machines are equipped with.

Please be aware that we need two students enrolled on the class otherwise it is subject to cancellation.  By purchasing this class you are agreeing to our class policy.
