1 x 3hr Session

£35.00

Class Length: 3 hours
Number in Class: 6
Entry Level: You will need to have completed one of our ‘Sewing Machine Basics’ courses or have similar experience with a machine. This means you must be able to thread the machine on your own, wind a bobbin, and go forwards and backwards with straight stitch.
Materials: Not Included: Students will need to bring materials for this class. Please see materials list below.
Tutor: Caitlin Lisle

This class is an introduction to foundation paper piecing, using the simple 'Ashley’s Star' block. The technique involves machine stitching fabrics to a paper template to create detailed shapes. The paper helps to stabilise the fabric and enables you to create precise and intricate shapes. The paper is later removed. Our tutor will guide you through the process and by the end of the class there will be no stopping you! Students will be talked through the theory of foundation paper piecing and shown how to construct the block, and practice making one in the perfect size for a cushion cover.

Materials List:
- 6 fat quarters (2 of background fabric, 4 different fabrics for the star). Please see our Quilt Fabric section.
- Paper templates provided
- Thread suitable for piecing, in a tone that works with your fabric. We recommend Aurifil 50wt
If you would like to buy these items from the shop we are happy to help you choose on the day or pop in beforehand as choosing fabric can take some time!!
