The Pauline Alice Spring Summer collection of sewing patterns is as beautiful as ever. The Mirambell Skirt and Lliria Dress are both fresh, pretty and feminine. Great care and attention has been paid to the design detail, providing floaty and comfortable garments with timeless elegance. The knife pleats are top stitched from the waist to the hips, to highlight the body curves, then open to a full hem. With its high waistline, the Mirambell skirt hugs the hips while being really comfortable. The shaped waistband and pockets bring original details to the skirt design. You can also play with top stitching here, either with matching or contrasting thread. View A is above-the-knee length with an invisible zipper in the back, while View B is knee-length with a front button closure. Recommended fabrics for this pattern are lightweight woven fabrics such as cotton, linen, rayon, silk, crepe, chambray, or light gabardine or wool. In the photographs, Pauline used a curry crepe rayon for view A and an off-white linen for view B. Its romantic and nostalgic shape is clearly inspired by the past, by the 40’s fashion to be precise. But the Lliria Dress is still contemporary and perfect for today. [caption id="attachment_1589" align="alignright" width="630"]Pauline Alice Lliria Dress sewing pattern Pauline Alice Lliria Dress sewing pattern[/caption] The Lliria Dress is a wrap dress but with an asymmetric button closure instead of the usual belt. The gathers and the fitted waistband highlight the figure while being comfortable. Pauline Alice has paid special attention to detail for this design: original gathered darts above the bust; a back yoke with soft gathers; curved neckline and waistband; and sleeves delicately gathered into a cuff. Lliria also offers two views: view A with ¾ sleeves and a short dress above the knee; and view B with short sleeves and a midi length (below the knee). Topstitching can also be a strong feature on the Lliria dress (along the waistband, the darts, the back yoke, the sleeve cuffs…) and why not add piping to showcase the curved lines? For the Lliria dress, it’s very important to choose a lightweight and drapy fabric. Opt for cotton lawn, rayon, crepe, linen or silk. You’ll also need some interfacing for the waistband and 10 small buttons of approximately 1,5 cm (5/8”) wide. In the photographs, Pauline used a rust rayon with small flowers for view A and a pale green crepe cotton for view B.
