May has been a break-through month for Backstitch... literally!  Our big news is that we are doubling our shop space, and have knocked a big whole through into the next unit.  We have the workmen in busy fitting out our new space to bring a bigger and more permanent studio space, and stacks more retail space... watch out over the next month for improvements and many thanks for bearing with us through this time of disruption! In other news...
  • New sewing pattern arrivals in May include the Colette Aster - such an elegant blouse, Megan Nielsen's new Brumby Skirt plus two reprints, the Darling Ranges Dress and the Tania Culottes.  We've got the womens Camas Blouse from Thread Theory, plus restocks of all their mens patterns, and all of these in digital too.
  • New quilt fabric collections include the city fun Street Life by Jessica Hogarth, the countriside loveliness that is Sherwood from Makower (we love to see English woodland animals like hares and badgers rather than raccoons and bears!), and we have three of the four Color Me fabrics from Hayley Crouse by Michael Miller... yes, fabrics for colouring in... how cool?!
  • We've had a massive fabric sale this month, which is still going strong.  Many fabrics have up to 40% off.  And don't forget, there is our Bolt Ends section which always has some last chance treasures.
  • On Classes, we are approaching the first of our 'Embroidery Basics' stitch series classes.  The series starts with Line Stitches and works through, Chain, Looped and Knotted stitches over four classes.  We have a Wednesday morning run and a Thursday evening run.  Find all our classes here.
  • I've done a ton of successful sewing, but not had a chance to blog it yet... I finished the Victoria Blazer and made two Sailor Tops (more copies of this pattern on order!)
  • On the blog we've visited the legendary Liesl Gibson of Oliver+S fame.  Take a look at her perfect New York studio.
